Twenty twelve, featured image, Chrome/Android
-
My blog using the 2012 theme has no featured image on its static front page. It displays correctly on a PC in IE or FF.
On my Samsung tablet running Chrome, the front page has a blank area with an icon indicating the featured image is set but cannot be retrieved.

Thanks but I just found it’s not an Android problem; it’s a Chrome problem.
Same problem with Chrome for Windows, version 27.0, and Windows 7. This version is up to date. Problem persists after clearing cache. I realize this seems to imply “it’s a browser problem.” What would anyone recommend for testing — test IE and Firefox only? Don’t use 2012??

Hi greenspun,
It looks like you have a broken image for your theme’s header. In Chrome, it displays the “broken image” icon, while in Firefox it just skips it.
You can try uploading a new image here:
https://trinketzjewelry.wordpress.com/wp-admin/themes.php?page=custom-headerHeader images tend to work best in this theme when the image is 960×250. Larger/smaller images do not always display properly.

Hi jackiedana,
Yes, it looks like that, but that’s not what’s happening. As I said, the page does not have a Featured Image. In the editor, this page has a “Set featured image” label under the “Featured Image” heading. I can set the image and clear it again, which I just did, but when it’s cleared I still get the broken image icon in Chrome.
I know about the best image size. I have no jewelry photos that fit those dimensions, which is why I’m not using a Featured Image.
The page we’re talking about uses the Front Page Template, by the way, rather than one of the other two available in this theme.

Ooops, sorry, you were right. I was confusing the page’s featured image with the theme’s header image. I cleared that and now it’s ok in Chrome. Thanks for your help!
