twentyfourteen layout issues.
-
hello, I have been trying to learn how to use twentyfourteen but I am really having difficulty understanding how to create the theme layout that is featured here:
https://twentyfourteendemo.wordpress.com/I have two other blogs, one other in twentyfourteen, and the other I would like to transfer to twentyfourteen, but I really need to understand better several issues.
I cannot seem to locate the side menu placement. Nor can I place it as a widget on the right hand widget column.
I really would like to have all my widgets on the left, with a side (flyout) menu at the top, in the black left hand column as in the demo. and then have the video and photo galleries on the right. but I just cannot understand how to place anything in that left hand column in black.
another issue is the top bar menu: in the demo it remains always visible. It is rides up as I scroll down on my version.
is this something attainable only thru paid custumization?
also, the search button is not on the bar as it is in the demo.I will stop here for now…
thank you in advance for your help.

Another issue is the blog title. In the demo, “twenty fourteen appears on the far left, at the same level as the top menu bar, and is written in small characters.
On my blog, the title is in capital letters and appears somewhat centered and *below* the menu bar.

mumble mumble. I dont know how that has happened but somehow even though I wrote twentyfourteen I got “edin theme” which I never even had heard of…
I will now try to switch over to twentyfourteen. how strange.
