Twice the setup of the posts page?
-
Hi folks,
This is just a question, really > Is it possible to have 2 ‘starting pages’ in one blog?
Short explanation of what I mean:
My starting page has only posts, mostly single photos with title and tags. All else, longer sets of photos with text, go on separate pages.
What I would like to do is have the same setup as the starting page twice so I can post single color photos as well as I don’t like mixing color and black and white on the same page. The black and white would then still be the starting page. It’s just the setup that I would need…
A second blog, linked to the first would of course solve that… but I just wondered if I could do that in one blog as well…I’m quite happy with a simple yes or no :-)
Thanks and grts

You could make categories for your black and whites and color then have a static front page with links to those categories.
Note that you can’t categorize pages.

Thanks, 1tess :-)
That might work… I’ll toss it around a bit to see how it looks… I already have those categories but didn’t think of using them that way.

Oh yes.
Categories are a very powerful way to organize your blog. They can allow your readers to choose what they are interested in rather than having to scroll through your whole blog.
Categories can also have hierarchy. B&W pictures could be a main category with a sub-category or Amsterdam.
Categories and tags can also get you into wp.com’s global tags system so you can attract new readers with an interest in your topics.
There is tons of info in Support about categories…
