Twitter account not correct or updated for sharing
-
Hello. I created my blog a couple of years ago and added the twitter handle @allisonrose_ to the wordpress account. I have since changed my handle to @allisonrosebook. I have updated to this new handle in as many places as I can find in my WP account, in the individual posts, in sharing options, etc., yet STILL when I share a post to Twitter directly from my blog, the nice preview shows up correctly in Twitter but the NAME IS ALWAYS WRONG.
I don’t know what I’m missing. I’ve refreshed my browser, restarted my computer, looked everywhere I can think of in WP to find the correct place to update this. I’m tired of coming up as Allison Bolofingo in links to my blog posts. I don’t know how to change it. Please help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Yes. It is correct in both the blog post and under Settings > Sharing and still it is coming up incorrect in Twitter.

Hi,
I tried sharing one of your posts, and the name was correct.. (the new one..) just wondering, I would perhaps go to twitter > https://twitter.com/settings/applications and ‘revoke wordpress’ then reinstate it, perhaps it is stuck on your old ‘handle’? -
Thanks for the help. Did it show up as ALLISON ROSE because that is the correct name.
I will try what you suggest and revoke the wordpress application to see if that works.
-
It still shows up for me as “Allison Bolofingo” (incorrect name).
Could that mean it’s stuck like that for me, but others it shows up as “Allison Rose” (correct name)?

Well did you clear your browser cache as stated here?
Reconnecting Twitter
Log into your WordPress.com blog. Go to Settings→Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard and click the X next to the link to the Twitter account you wish to disconnect.
Reload the page and confirm the link now says Create new Twitter connection.
Clear your browser’s cookies (this clears some cookies that Twitter sets which are often part of the problem). https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache
Log back into your WordPress.com blog. Go to Settings→Sharing in your blog’s Dashboard and follow these steps to reconnect.

I think you failed to clear your browser cache and that why you see the old account and others see the new one, so I did not tag this for Staff and will not do so until you do that.

Okay. I took a few minutes to do as you suggested. I first revoked wordpress access in my twitter account, then deleted the twitter handle in Settings>Sharing. I logged out of everything (wordpress and twitter). Cleared cache and Cleared ALL History and Website Data in Safari. Quit and reopened Safari. Reconnected my twitter account to wordpress. Attempted sharing the post through the button on my post (which still says “Publicize: Twitter: @AllisonRoseBook”).
Nothing worked. Still says Allison Bolofingo.
Could this be a Safari issue? If so, I can download firefox and try it through there.
-
I don’t know if it’s a Safari issue or not so I’ll tag the thread for Staff intervention. Sorry this has been such a pain.

My concern is when after the tweet is published, there is a “view summary” link, and in the summary there is a photo and a snapshot of the linked blog post, and the name included is not Allison Rose as it should be, giving the readers the impression that the author of the blog post is “Allison Bolofingo”.
-
Oh.. well yes, apologies; I would go with a different browser and check the twitter account settings then.. as it seems to be the ‘twitter account name’…
Apart from that ‘staff will be on their way before too long’… :)
Good Luck

Hi Allison,
I checked everything on this end, and it’s all using your correct @allisonrosebook Twitter handle. However, I see what you mean about the wrong name being displayed in the summary when you publish the tweet on Twitter.
Those summaries are created by Twitter, and they are called Twitter Cards. Can you please try pasting a link to your blog in the Twitter Card Validator to make sure Twitter is getting the correct name there?

Hi thanks for your response.
I pasted a link from my blog into the Twitter Card Validator and there it shows up as my correct name (Allison Rose).
