Twitter Cards Not Working – WordPress.com blog
-
Hey! I am having trouble getting twitter cards to work for my two blog posts so far. The error I am receiving from the twitter card validator is “ERROR: Fetching the page failed because it’s denied by robots.txt.”
I have a wordpress.com account and really don’t want to transfer to wordpress.org to be able to install plugins and what-not and fix this issue? Please tell me I don’t have to do that! I was under the impression that wordpress.com covered twitter cards by default? Is this still true?
I have set a featured image for my most recent post but that doesn’t seem to make much of a difference. Please let me know any advice you have!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I just checked your most recent post at https://cards-dev.twitter.com/validator and didn’t get that error. Can you try again and see if that’s still happening?
You can also get help via staff with your plan, as a note. https://wordpress.com/help/contact/

Hi there,
The robots.txt file on your site is cached, and it can take a while after changing privacy settings on your site before other services pick up that your site is no longer private, as that cache first needs to be refreshed.
You should not be getting that error any more now.
