Twitter follow button not working in text widget

I cut and pasted the short code for the “Display a Follow Button and a link to your Twitter page” into a text widget (in footer area one) as directed on the support page, and replaced “wordpress.com” with “@AppalachianSvcs”. The only thing that shows up on my pages is the words “Follow Us On Twitter” with no clickable link. I also tried deleting the “@” sign. Neither method is working. I also tried removing the ( ‘ ) signs. That didn’t work either so I put them back. No modifications I can think of will cause the clickable button to appear.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi!

This should be fixed up now. Can you take a look? I removed the ‘@’ from your username, and the button appeared correctly.

Thank You! It seems to be working perfectly. :)

So, if at some point I want to include the number of followers to this widget I would just add ” show_count=’yes’ ” after the existing short code but inside the “]” ?

    Yep! That should work.
