Hi there, I wanted to know what the number of twitter followers mean on wordpress? Because this doesn’t match the total number of followers on our actual twitter account, so it’s a bit misleading. Thank you.

The Twitter follower account is cached on our end, so does not update in real time as your follower count on Twitter changes.
I’ve forced a refresh, and it should be showing the correct count now.

Thank you. The numbers are still off, wordpress shows 3,546 and our twitter is at 2,197. Do you know why this could be?

Hi there,
The 3,546 number you see in your site stats is the combined number of followers on all connected social media accounts not just those on Twitter. So in your case, the number includes both Twitter and LinkedIn.

Strange, the twitter number and Linkedin number still don’t add up to what WP is showing though.

@cristinabentley remember too that we need to cache those numbers. So if it’s off by just a few, I wouldn’t worry about that.
If the combined total for all of your connected accounts is off by more than that, let us know your current numbers and we’ll try to sort this out. Thanks :)

I think that only our Twitter is connected to WP. Our Twitter number is 2197 so quite a bit off than what WP is showing.

I took a closer look and see what is going on here, the site has two active Twitter users
@energyathaaswhich is available to all editors of the site and@auffhammerwhich only the WordPress.com userauffhammerhas permission to post to. The combined total of followers for these two accounts is indeed 3,546.Hope this helps and let us know if you need help with anything else.
