Twitter handle change not synced with wordpress

Hi, my blog is neenasgl.wordpress.com. I changed my Twitter handle in October 2013 to @neenasgl but my twitter button is still directing traffic to my old handle (@regulargirl101) that has been taken over by another user. How is can this be fixed?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It won’t change automatically. You will need to reconfigure the button under your theme options (under Appearance in the dashboard) to have it point to your new username.

Hi there,
You can update your Twitter username in your sharing settings, under Settings > Sharing in your blog’s dashboard. Once that’s updated, you can reply here and I can make sure that update is applied to the Twitter button on your older posts.

Thank you Rachelmcr and Kokieh. I did both the things you both suggested, however, when sharing a post via twitter, it is still directing traffic to my old handle. Do you have any additional suggestions?

There are two places under Settings ->Sharing where you can change it. The one is under Publicize at the top where you connect your actual Twitter account, and the other is right at the bottom of the page next to the heading “Twitter username to include in tweets when people share using the Twitter button.” This second one is the one connected to your sharing button. Make sure it is changed there and save settings.

Hi Kokkieh, I appreciate your help. I have changed my handle in both the places you suggested. Unfortunately when the tweet button on my posts still directs users to @regulargirl101 Do you have any other suggestions?

It could be that it doesn’t automatically update for already published posts, but rachelmcr can check that for you as she has indicated. Just be patient for her to get back to this thread.

Hello, I had this same problem and had changed both the publicize and “twitter username to include in tweets” part. Is it at all possible to have this changed for me as well to redirect my older posts?
The twitter I want it to link to is @nightmere10.
