twitter icon embed code issues

I want to add a colourful Follow Me Twitter icon on my wordpress.com blog,. ever time I insert the embed code though and I check my site to see how it looks, I see the icon and lots of emebd code text. I cannot seem to get rid of the text without losing the icon. I am using Koi theme. Thanks
