Twitter image not updating
-
I have done everything I can find to update this, but an old image is still showing up if my page is shared on Twitter. The image that is showing up in Twitter isn’t even in my media library anymore. Facebook is working well. I tried using the Twitter Card validator. I get this:
The card for your website will look a little something like this!
Unable to render Card preview
But the logs look fine, I think.
Log
INFO: Page fetched successfully
INFO: 26 metatags were found
INFO: twitter:card = summary_large_image tag found
INFO: Card loaded successfully
The tags in the source look correct (I think).
Any ideas?WP.com: Yes

Hi there:
Can you give us a link to a post on Twitter where your page has been shared showing the wrong image and one from Facebook showing the correct one? Once we have that information, we’ll be better able to advise.
Thanks!

Glad to hear!
Likely there was some caching on Twitter’s end storing your old image, and instead of refreshing it right away, it probably took a while for their cache to refresh. I’d say reach out to Twitter Support, but I’m not sure they have anyone left! :)

I actually think Twitter is in great shape. Never seen so much transparency from them before. I prefer the transparency vs. working with one side of the US government. How has Twitter hurt you?

I’d rather not debate here, but for what it’s worth, the Card Validator is usually a good way to clear the cache if you need to. The “Unable to render Card preview” suggests there was some issue beyond that.
If you see that again, you might compare results with a similar tool like Facebook’s Debug tool to see whether it produces a similar error. If it does, please let us know. In the meantime, we’re glad to hear it started working for you again!
