Twitter Impact on Google Crawls
-
Does using Publicize to automatically tweet announcements of posts have any impact on Google crawling? I ask because I’m used to Google crawling my blog every few hours, but after turning on Publicize, they’ve started to skip a lot of posts. I noticed it with this one
http://polentical.com/2012/03/15/tv-in-review-modern-family-send-out-the-clowns/
because I’m particularly used to getting lots (for me, keeping in mind that it’s a very small blog) hits on my Modern Family reviews. Google didn’t notice the page at all until I deleted the accompanying tweet.I know very little about how this works, so I have no idea if this is a crazy idea or something common that everyone knows. Can anyone clue me in?

All issues with search engines are between the bloggers and search engines.

Thanks for the reply. If anyone knows of a site where fellow WordPress users can share their experience and knowledge with these matters, I’d love to know about it.

You can chat with other WordPress.com bloggers at any time in the Off-Topic Forum. Here’s the link > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/off-topic

It’s a bit frustrating that one can’t ask specific questions about how WordPress operates without being sent to an Off-Topic Forum, but I’ll try my luck there. Thanks.

This thread still exists and has not been marked for closure. If and when any other blogger has an answer to your question they can and will post into it.

Ah, I thought I was being told my question was inappropriate. Thanks again to you and any future blogger who reply.

In my first post I posted a relevant link to support documentation as all Voulteers answering support questions do here. It’s not likely you will get a quick answer to any search engine question as issues like this one do tend to be blog specific issues rather than general ones.

Immediately after you publish or delete a page or post, your WordPress.com blog sends a ping to Google, Bing, Yahoo! and Ask. These immediate notifications help the major search engines receive your new content as quickly as possible (often within seconds) so your blog can show up in search results faster.WordpPress.com sends sitemap update notifications to major search engines every time your site content changes. Each post edit or approved comment results in a new notification. This update frequency is the preferred behavior of search engines interested in discovering fresh content without needing to revisit your blog unnecessarily. http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/02/15/new-content-wordpress-com-pings-for-you/

Tweeting a page or post does nothing to trigger Google crawls. All links in tweets are Nofollow links.
