Twitter Integration?

  So, I know that WordPress.com hosted blogs cannot use plugins. However, it would be awfully convenient to have the Twitter integration (the ‘New post on my blog: *tinyurl link here*’ automatic tweet offered by certain plugins) available. I gather that Typepad-hosted blogs support this functionality, and that would make a nice feature for my photoblog.

  So, I’m hoping that perhaps there’s something I’ve overlooked, a solution others have found. If not, c’est la vie, I’ll continue doing so by hand. Would just be awfully convenient. :)

  I do know of a few book authors that have Twitter on their site, specifically, http://briankeene.com – though I have never looked into doing it for my site.

  You can put your Twitter feed in your RSS widget. As someone who now makes a substantial part of my living from Twitter, I would urge extreme caution when approaching anything automated like that. Why? One simple reason:

  It makes you look like an idiot.

  The tweets invariably cut you off in the middle of a sentence, and they just scream “I don’t care enough about my own blog or you to come here and type it out myself.” Automated Twitter functions of all kinds are the latest bete noir of the internet, and they look very, very low-rent.

  By “anything automated like that” I don’t mean putting the Twitter feed in your sidebar. I mean automated content push services like autotweets any time you make a post or automated follow-back DMs.

  They invariably come out looking like:

  How to maximize your effectiveness all across so-

  Doesn’t make you look very effective.

  I’m somewhat with raincoaster though, well, it depends. I use Twitterfeed for my blog on my main account and then have another account mainly for myself which gathers all my links [and a surprising amount of people follow that].

  I’m annoyed by people overdoing it with their imported stuff in tweets, so definitely use with caution.

  Yes, but keep in mind that Typepad blogs start at $4.95 per month.
