twitter is displaying my name on everyone's posts

EdtechunZipped is a joint blog and we pay the premium rate. My partner Linda McClure is not happy. Whenever she posts what she writes to Twitter, it says my Twitter Name as the author. I’ve tried getting rid of my twitter handle altogether so it won’t post on her blog posts on Twitter.

This only happens when she posts to Twitter in the Twitter platform. On the blog, it’s her name as the author (like the most recent 3D printing article) But, when she posts on Twitter it says the article is by @miltology

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Kari.

The ‘via @miltology’ text showed up in Tweets as you were connected to your Twitter account via our Publicize feature. Would you like me to update the default text to ‘via @wordpressdotcom’ on our end? If you’d like, you can also encourage Linda to connect her Twitter account via Publicize so that her handle will display.

Hmmmm… I really wanted to believe you. I told Linda that she needed to connect her account. She did….

Still whenever she blogs (the latest blog on our website is hers) when it posts to Twitter it says by @miltology (which is my Twitter name) and shows my picture.

Which is odd, because I also turned off publicize to Twitter, so in theory it shouldn’t have my name at all in it…

Here’s what we see: (no I didn’t blog it)
    https://twitter.com/Lindamcclure/status/595934791733620737
Though it’s her blog it’s my name that shows.

I would rather keep our names when we blog. When I blog it says from me, and when she blogs it says from her.

    Thanks,
    Kari Milton

    Hi Kari.

I just realised, I missed something that I should have caught the first time I replied to you. Sorry about that!

If you take a look at Settings > Sharing in WP Admin, you’ll find that @miltology has been added as ‘Twitter username to include in tweets when people share using the Twitter button.’:

    https://edtechunzipped.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing

When people manually share your posts to Twitter, your handle will always be displayed, regardless of who wrote the post. Could you change this? You can leave it blank if you wish.

If both your and Linda are connected up separately to Publicize, and choose to Publicize from your own accounts each times you post, you should then notice you individual handles display.

I can’t find what you are refferring to:

I see Settings but in that tab it does not say Sharing in WP Admin,
There are 4 menus: and I’ve checked all 4, but can’t find Sharing in WP Admin
    1. General
    2.Writing
    3. Discussion
    4. Analytics

There is a separate place that says Sharing, and when i go there I unclicked Twitter, but that obviously it not the right place

There’s is also an account settings, but it is not there either.

Navigation isn’t so easy in WordPress. I must be missing another setting area. Please help.

    Hi Kari.

I can understand that the two admin areas in WordPress can be a little confusing at the moment. We’re currently in the process of bringing functionality over from our classic interface, that you see in WP Admin, to our newer interface that you described in your last reply. This is why you’ll find two different ways of changing the setting.

The initial directions I gave were for WP Admin. If you hover over the ‘Settings’ section in the left-hand sidebar in WP Admin, you’ll see a link to ‘Sharing,’ which leads you directly to this page:

    https://edtechunzipped.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=sharing

If you’d prefer to stick to our newer interface, you can head to ‘Sharing’ and then the ‘Sharing Buttons’ section there. You can edit the ‘Twitter username’ field here:

    https://wordpress.com/sharing/buttons/edtechunzipped.com

Either of the above links can be followed directly to change the default Twitter username that’s currently associated with your site’s posts.

    Ah ok,

Got it thanks! I wondered why there were 2 interfaces, but that helped immensely. Got it taken care of, thanks for your clarification!

I’m glad that helped to clarify things! If any questions come up, just let me know. I’ll be happy to help.
