Twitter share: old accounts only

  I’m trying to get my automatic sharing activated. Going through the process (tools > Marketing tools > Start sharing > …). I get to choose which of my Twitter accounts I want to use. Somehow it shows old accounts that were disabled months ago, but not the more recent one that I want to use for my site. Is there some kind of hidden cache I need to clean out?

  Hi there,
  If you want to disconnect the old twitter account, please go to your_site → Tools → Marketing → Connections in your dashboard and click Disconnect next to the link to the Twitter account you wish to disconnect.
  Please clear your browser’s cookies (this clears some cookies that Twitter sets which are often part of the problem).

  Thanks for the help. Unfortunately, clearing the cookies (and every bit of browser history along with it) didn’t change a thing. There is no Twitter account connected to my site. When I try to connect to Twitter I can log in perfectly, but then a pop-up appears and I still get to choose from my main account (which I don’t want to use) and a no longer existing side account. My side account that does exist and which I do want to use (and which I can effortlessly switch to when using my Twitter apps) is not listed.

  Thanks Mohammad! Extra info: I have tried de-authorising WordPress from my Twitter account, then removing browser history, and finally restarting my laptop. Logged into my WordPress site and tried again to connect to new side account but still had the same, obsolete options as before.

  @tslingerland – are you logged into the Twitter account that you want to connect through Publicize? If so, please let us know what that Twitter username is and we can take a closer look.

  Hi! I’ve just managed to get it working. The fact that my old side account (that doesn’t even exist anymore) kept popping up when connecting to my main account put me on the wrong track. I just needed to connect directly to the new side account. I tried that before but accidentally used a wrong password which redirected me to the log-in for the main account again. Just confusing, but it seems to be okay now. Thanks anyway!
