Twitter share stats are totally missing, other stats appear fine

  Starting this week I noticed my Twitter share stats were totally absent on all posts at my site: http://rebelmetropolis.org

  This has happened before on occasion, but with only a post or two at a time, and they seemingly came back without any logical reason why.

  But now they are absent on all pages on the site. All other social media stats on each page including Facebook’s are visible and correct.

  Reading over past forums on this matter it’s unclear if this is a WordPress issue, or is generated from the respective social media hosts. If this is a WordPress issue, is it something that you’re aware of, and how long until the matter is resolved?

  Hi. This is not a WordPress issue. Twitter has decided to remove the share count from its button. Here is just one article on the issue – http://warfareplugins.com/is-twitter-seriously-removing-share-counts-why-would-they-do-this/ – There are dozens more. Just Google “Twitter share count” and you will find as much as you can read.

  I don’t like the decision and think it is short-sighted in many ways, but Twitter is desperately trying to make money now that it is a public company.

  Thanks, MOS. I’m surprised none of that popped up when I was searching the topic. Truly disappointing.
