Twitter Sharing uses "via: @ my old username

When you click the share Twitter button on my post and another window opens up the default message is the blog post (good) but it says “via: @ MY OLD USER NAME, this is my old twitter username and my old WordPress user name. I have since updated my user name both my Twitter user name and my WordPress user name. Below is an example. My new Twitter user name is: @thetangerintree (edited in sharing settings) and my new wordpress username is: hiimnicole. How can I change the default sharing message to include my new twitter user name as a default or my wordpress user name? Thanks!

Did you try disabling the sharing icons, clearing your browser cache and cookies and enabling them again?

    Solve Common Browser Issues

I’m experiencing the same issue, so I thought I’d join this thread rather than starting a new one. I’ve seen several threads covering this issue, but I’ve not been able to resolve it.

I changed the name of my Twitter handle from annoyingly-long @josefusbarnabas to @joescii, and you can see on my blog that the share via Twitter button will still insert the old twitter handle.

I disconnected Twitter both as a Publicize option and a Sharing Button Service. I saved the settings and verified my blog no longer featured the Twitter button. I reconnected both Publicize and Sharing with my twitter account and saved. I visited the page again (using a fresh incognito Chrome tab for good measure) and it still has the old name. I’ve also tried the Twitter button from multiple devices to eliminate the caching possibility.

Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
