Twitter sharing with disconnected account

    I used to have my various social media accounts connected to my WordPress blog and use the automatic sharing. But for the last year or two I have ALWAYS turned off the sharing (so long as I remembered) because I use other means (Buffer) to share my posts now.

    One day I forgot to turn it off and had to go and delete a tweet and I thought, “this is silly, I never use this any more, I should just disconnect all these social media accounts, then I don’t have to remember to turn it off every time I make a new blog post”. So that’s what I did. I have now got no social media accounts connected to my blog.

    So, you can imagine my surprise when the next two posts I made got automatic tweets sent out about them. Having disconnected the accounts, I have no way of stopping this, and have to just go and delete the tweets (which I have done btw so nothing I can show you to prove it).

    I recall that I had the same issue when I disconnected Facebook a while ago (see https://wordpress.com/forums/topic/facebook-auto-sharing-even-with-disconnected-account/) and in the end, someone from your end deleted the connection.

    Given that from my end I have no twitter account connected (used to be @MQGem), there is nothing else I can disconnect. Please can someone at your end just delete the connection?

    Might also be worth looking into why user disconnections doesn’t actually do the disconnect too?

    I see that your thread has been flagged for Staff, and they’ll reply when they look in on this thread, but in the meantime you can also check and, if needed, remove WordPress.com in your Twitter account Settings under Security and account access>Apps and sessions>Connected Apps.

    Hi there,

    It seems that although you disconnected your site’s connection to Twitter it somehow remained connected on the backend.

    I’ve successfully deleted that connection and I can verify that no other social service is connected to your site.
