Twitter Timeline Widget HTML code keeps disappearing
-
i swear y’all are going to be sick of me.
okay… Under the Customizer i added the Twitter Timeline widget so it can appear on the right side of my page. the Widget requests a Widget ID. I clicked on the link which took me to Twitters “create a widget” page. I created one & copied the HTML code. However, when i go back to paste the code into the Widget ID box it keeps disappearing every time i press “Save” or even if i just scroll up a bit.
i’ve tried this several times and it still disappears from the ID box.

Don’t use the customizer. Try going directly to > Dashboard > Appearance > Widgets

nope, that didn’t work either. as soon as i hit “save” the HTML code disappears. the header title, “follow me on Twitter” is there, but that’s it.

@ startlivingconsciously,
I created one & copied the HTML code.
You might be copying the entire URL. Try copying and pasting just the number in the URL. That’s the widget ID.

it worked, however, it wouldn’t be done via the twitter widget creation app.
i had to paste via the dashboard/wp admin/widgets page, THEN i was able to delete everything except the numbers.it is ridiculous how difficult it is to figure out something simple. if i hadn’t decided to try it the round about way, i would have never figured it out. smh
thanks for the suggestion – it lead me on the right path.

Thank you, Lynnette, for asking this question. I’ve been trying to figure this out for the last 24 hours, and had just about given up. I followed all the steps in this thread, and musicdoc1’s input about pasting only the number worked. The directions WP provides are inaccurate, or at least unclear. Nowhere does it say to edit the code provided by the Widgets Configurator on Twitter. That indeed was the missing piece to solving this puzzle.
Again, thank you!

@ruinunleashed
I couldn’t agree more about the non clarity of the steps/directions. But i am SO glad this thread helped you! I was at my breaking point too so i completely feel your pain. Glad it worked out!!L
