Twitter Username Not Updating for Twitter Share Button

  I changed my Twitter username a while back, and I have noticed that the Twitter Share button at my blog is still using my old Twitter username.

  Example: If I click the Twitter Share button on any of my blog posts, I see “via @<old username>” in the popup text box.

  I have changed my Twitter username under Sharing -> Sharing Buttons (the one with the sub-text, “This will be included in tweets when people share using the Twitter button.”) but it seems to have no effect. I have also tried:

  – Logging out of Twitter
  – Deleting and remaking my Twitter Publicize app
  – Remove the Twitter Share button from my list of visible Share buttons, then adding it back and retyping my Twitter username.

  @levelwhimsical is the on Twitter username; I’m trying to get it to Share with @compwhiz3001

  Update: Yesterday after “flushing” all my legacy Twitter connections as I described above, my first new post today now correctly “shares” with my new Twitter username! Although my old posts still use the old Twitter username, I’m hopeful all future posts will now use the correct one.
