Twitter widget

OK, raincoaster’s suggestion didn’t quite work. Using Pressrow theme, and the standard side bar widgets (like recent entries, links, etc.) do not have an add button. They show up on the add widget page, but no way to add them. It’s like the theme thinks they are already there, but they’re not after adding the twitter widget.

Twitter widget says no response from Twitter. I have removed, replaced and saved. To no avail. I think I am going to wait till this works better…

You’ll need to change the link for the hashtags search. The widget uses twitter.com/search, but the actual url is search.twitter.com.
Thanks.

And my regular RSS widget is also giving me No Response, so it’s probably an actual Twitter problem, not a widget problem, since they’re two different widgets we’re talking about.

I just added the Twitter widget, and while it worked just fine, it looked AWFUL so I took it out again. I mean, a whole line for every “@”??? And I mean JUST the @, not the “@Whoever”.

Rain-you have the Custom CSS no? Did you see the bit above from Nick in reply to cat? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/twitter-widget-3?replies=27#post-322662

Ugh. For me, that’s the equivalent of code hacking. I still haven’t added the bit Devblog gave me to make the captions center instead of going aligned left, and that was months ago!

Thanks, it’s http://raincoaster.com. Wow, I feel like a celebrity! Much appreciated; I’m very lazy, you know.

I’m still getting an annoying splitting taking place: every single Twitter name gets its own line, every “posted X number of minutes ago” gets its own line, ever RT or @ gets its own line. I’m leaving it, because I’m just too lazy to do anything else right now and for whatever reason the regular twitter RSS isn’t working. Sigh.

I keep having this same problem. I added Twitter yesterday, since it was a new option. I love Twitter so I thought it would be a great quick asset to my blog. I watched it’s performance yesterday and today; it usually shows no response from Twitter. I really think it has something to do with traffic flow on my blog, my blog is http://adkinsmetcalffamily.wordpress.com/ when it gets a lot of hits, Twitter shuts down, but when it goes idle, it comes back on. I think their has to be some kind of fix. The add and remove isn’t it. I have friends with Twitter widgets on their blogs and they work perfectly. We’ve just got some kinks to work out.
Does it seem to work better if you stay logged in to Twitter or if your signed out?

im also having the “no response from twitter” error. however, my twitter account is locked, as in only people i allow to see my tweets can, could this present a problem? i just created my wordpress acct yesterday, so i have zero traffic. oh and no custom CSS either. any ideas on how to fix?

Throughout the day, I note that the twitter widget says “no response from twitter.” I have replaced the widget several times but it still occurs. Is this response a bug in the widget or are there breaks in service on the Twitter side?
Any help would be appreciated.

If you see the message “No response from Twitter” or something like it, that means that the Twitter servers did not respond when the widget made a request for updates. When getting updates from Twitter fails, the “No response from Twitter” message will only be cached for 5 minutes and then the widget will try to get an update again. If a response is received, the widget will display Tweets and check for updates at 15 minute intervals.
