Twitter widget not working
-
I noticed today that the twitter widget in my sidebar no longer works. Rather than displaying tweets, it just has what appears to be a hyperlink saying “My Tweets” (but it’s not actually a link, it leads nowhere). I double checked the widget ID # on Twitter, etc., and can’t find any mistakes on my end. Anyone else having similar problems? What gives?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

If it’s any consolation, I can see the Twitter timeline widget in your sidebar. I’m using Chrome 36 and Firefox 31 to view your site.

Oh – must be an issue with my browser then, I guess. Although I’m using Chrome too. How strange. Anyway, thanks!

I can see it using IE 11, FF31 and Chrome 36 too.

Aha – the point in there about disabling browser extensions reminded me that my antivirus software recently added a Chrome extension that blocks anything it considers a “tracker.” Checked that, sure enough it was blocking the Twitter badge from loading, unblocked it, and now it’s working fine. Thanks for jogging my memory!

Also, sometimes this error is attributable to Twitter being down. I saw that the other day on my own Twitter widget. Fortunately outages are less and less common.

Yes, but for informational purposes I thought it worth adding. Other people are going to have this problem and read this thread.

Okay. Both Jennifer and I could see what Rebecca’s browser extension/add-on was blocking. Lately there are a lot of browser blocking issues and when the extensions/add-ons are disabled the issue is resolved.
