Twitter/Publicize
-
The Twitter share button on some older posts on my blog are still showing my old Twitter handle. Newer posts are fine.
How do I update the old posts so if someone shares them on Twitter they mention my correct account?
Thank you!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I clicked to share on Twitter one of your posts from December and the Twitter account that was mentioned in the tweet was @SpiritedQuill Is that the correct Twitter account?

Just a suggestion that this might go a little faster if you would give us a direct link to a post where you see the problem. :)
Regardless, the only thing I can suggest to do is to remove the Twitter button from the Sharing options and saving your changes. Give it a few hours (maybe even a day) and then add the Twitter sharing button back. It sounds like there could be a caching problem somewhere.

Here’s one that is still doing it.

If you click to share it on Twitter, it shows the old handle.I will try your suggestion!
Thanks

Thank you – I’m having this same problem. Didn’t even notice it and I’ve had it changed for months. :-( Hopefully your suggestion works.

Cairenn and Willi: thank you for reporting this. I brought it to the attention of our developers, however, I don’t have a timeline for this. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

Still not working. There are still a few posts that are linking to the old Twitter account. Not good WP!
-
This is actually intended behavior. Posts are always linked to the Twitter handle that was set for the author via Publicize at the time the post was published.
This is to protect post ownership in blogs with multiple authors.
-
Some of the posts changed over to the new handle with no problem, changing the date on the posts updated a few more, but a few won’t change at all.
So, there IS a bug somewhere that needs to be looked at.
-
Hm, the bug would be with the ability to change the association by just changing the date. The association should never change. We’ll look into it.

I am having the same issue with my blog: carrytheone.wordpress.com. I first changed my twitter name yesterday and I updated publicize. Today, if I click on any posts that I have made in the past, the twitter share button still references the old twitter name “@carrytheone_”. My new twitter name is @carrytheoneblog . All support forums that reference this same problem don’t seem to have a solution. Please help.

No, this is not a bug, it is intended behavior designed to protect post ownership in blogs with multiple authors.
-
I understand it’s not a bug, but it needs to change. Am I being punished for getting married? People change their names all the time. There needs to be a verification system in place to protect post ownership.
-
I doubt it will change soon, but I did bring it up to our folks when it was initially mentioned here. Protecting post ownership seems to take priority.
