  Hi,
  if I look for the blog on google, just the old address appears (yaleitaliansociety.wordpress.com), which is not valid anymore. Can this somehow be avoided?

  Google only clears their caches about every 3 – 6 months and airodyssey has pointed to the relevant entry. We have no control over this. If what you did was move the content from one blog into another blog, and then your deleted the first blog then all the original URLs will appear in search results and all will produce 404 (page no found) when clicked. If you would like to link your username to the new one rather than the deleted one that’s easily done. Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.
