Two blogs but one username

I created two blogs from a wordpress account. The two sites are not related and are about two totally different topics. The problem is that the username and gravatar from the first blog is shown when I comment as a user of my second blog. Even when I reply to comments on my second blog, it shows the gravatar and username from the first (other) blog! This is confusing for people. Is there anything I can do about this and if not, how can I move the second website to another wordpress site? I already paid my annual fee for both sites. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there!

The problem is that the username and gravatar from the first blog is shown when I comment as a user of my second blog.

This is true because your second blog is connected to the same WordPress.com account username and thus only uses one Gravatar.

    Here’s more information on that:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/avatars/gravatars/

Is there anything I can do about this and if not, how can I move the second website to another wordpress site?

Nothing can be done about this at this point because as mentioned both blogs are connected to one username and Gravatar. However, you can transfer your blog to another WordPress.com account username.

Here’s a helpful article on how to do that:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-a-blog/#transferring-your-blog-to-another-wordpress-com-user-or-account

You’ll need to sign up for another WordPress.com account and I suggest that you sign up for a username only here:
    https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

After you have signed up for a second account, then you can set up that account’s Gravatar here: http://en.gravatar.com/. Once your Gravatar is set up then you can proceed with the transfer.

Note that you won’t need to pay for another annual for the site that you’re going to transfer since the site and all of its associated upgrades will be transferred too.

    Hello Elz!

Thank you so much for your clarity. The only thing that didn’t work for me is your link to setting up a new username. I copy and pasted this link: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1 but it came up with this link: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/ which is for adding a blog to an existing account (which is what I did the first time and what got me into this mess.)

I think the problem is that, since I am automatically logged on when I go into wordpress, it recognizes me from the notesfromtheundergroundblog and isn’t allowing me to create a new blog from scratch. Should I turn that feature off? If so, how do I do that?

Thank you so much for your assistance.

    Hi Elz,

I realized I just needed to log off from wordpress. After I did, I was able to set up a new account, but it wouldn’t allow me to create a new account with the username theantelopediaries. I had to use theantelopediaries2. Is there any way I could transfer my old username to my new account ?

I created a gravatar in the new account, like you said.

When I went through the transfer procedure, I got a message (which, unfortunately, I didn’t save.) It was about content being upgraded and that someone would contact me. So I take it that it will take some time?

Thank you for answering my questions.

Update: When I hit the transfer button, I was contacted the next day by someone from WordPress who resolved all of the above issues. So a big thank you to everyone. : )
