Two Cookie Banners Are Displaying
-
There are 2 cookie consent banners popping up on a blog I just created. I’ve searched the WP forum, WP Cookie Consent Block instructions, and Google but haven’t had any luck fixing it. My guess is, one banner is built in and I also added a block that needs to be deleted. My problem is, I’ve looked at the header, footer, etc, in the site editor but a Cookie Consent Block is nowhere to be found. Where else could this elusive block be hiding?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

That definitely IS unusual. (temp screenshot)
Is this a brand new WordPress.com site or did you switch from another theme?
If the latter, can you switch back to the earlier theme and see if there is an older CCBanner widget in the Customizer>Widgets? If so, you might be able to remove at least that one from there.
Let us know how that goes.

I’m not having any luck. I don’t know what the old theme was because I’ve been fiddling with this for so long that it no longer shows in the Activity Log (a free site only shows the last 20 changes). I’ve tried random themes but they all go to the Site Editor and I can’t get to the Customizer > Widgets. I believe I’ve reached the point of calling it a wash and moving on. Thanks for replying😊

You’re welcome, but if you’re still game to try and figure this out, select any Classic theme in the Showcase https://wordpress.com/themes/all/filter/classic-theme and the Appearance>Customizer or Appearance>Widgets should then appear for you.
You should also be able to see your previously activated themes in a new tab in your site’s Theme showcase called “My Themes”. https://wordpress.com/themes/my-themes/

Thanks for the info. Your links are helpful! I found my old themes (I had a few). I activated each of them but there are no active or inactive widgets on any of them. I had a theme that used the Site Editor but could not find the Cookie Banner on that one either. I hoped that, once I reactivated my preferred theme, the second Cookie Banner would magically disappear. But the mysterious second Cookie Banner continues…

Darn!
OK-I’ll go ahead and flag staff on this for assistance. It may take a little while before they get to this thread, so if you do manage to find the culprit in the meantime, do please come back and post here.
-
Oh, and I see you’ve marked this as solved, so if you want staff help, please change the status.
-
Sadly, I hit the “resolved” button when I submitted my first reply. I hit enter before I could uncheck it and I can’t find how to undo it. None of the menus or drop downs give me the option to update the Status.

Sorry that it’s taking this long for staff to reply to you and I see that the issue still exists on your website today. I’ve checked in a couple of browsers (FF and MSEdge), but there’s two cookie banners regardless. Hopefully staff will look in on this thread soonish.

I’m completely flummoxed by the lack of Staff assistance here in spite of being flagged for them since December 24th. So I guess we won’t find a solution with their help.
There are indeed two different Consent banners displaying: One is via Jetpack (wp-block-jetpack-consent) and the second the Cookies & Consent Widget (widget_eu_cookie_law_widget).
I still believe that the Cookies & Consent widget may be a leftover from an earlier theme since Creatio 2 doesn’t support widgets. So again, try temporarily switching to one of the Classic themes and see if you can remove the EU Cookie widget in the Customizer.
The other option is to remove the Cookie Consent block from your current theme.

Good Morning –
I am very sorry about this delay and poor experience on our side. It was not intentional. Thanks for flagging this again @justjennifer.
We are looking at the double cookie banners displaying on conniesuesays.wordpress.com and will follow up with next steps. I wanted y’all to know that this is on our radar now. Best wishes :) -
Hi @simplyconnie I’ve just sent you an email so you are aware we’ve reached out to you there as well.
