Two identical advertisements on my pages

  • Unknown's avatar

I have chosen the free service and WordPress places adverts on my blog pages accordingly. Fair enough. But why do I get two identical ones, one above the other? If they were different I would understand, but they just mess up the look of my page to no benefit to the advertiser. Unless WordPress is charging them for two ads. And mostly they are just for WordPress.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The ads you see displaying on your site change depending on location, the sites you visit, and other factors.

You can contact Automattic (the company behind WordPress.com) about the ads, by filling this form:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/about-these-ads/

    Hope this helps.

  • Hi there,

We display two ad slots on your page, but we don’t directly control which ads show there – that depends on which advertisers bid on that ad space when someone loads your site. So sometimes an advertiser will buy both ad slots, and sometimes they’ll be bought by two different advertisers.

I know it doesn’t make sense to have two identical ads on the page, but that’s how the system works.

Also note on wider themes the ad slots will show next to each other instead of below each other, in case you’d like to look at alternatives in that regard.

The form on that page just routes back to WordPress.com support. If users post in the forums regarding problems with ads on their site, please tag the thread for staff instead.
