Two langages with their own menus for one website using pages (not posts)
-
I would like to include two languages English and French in only one website.
1. Can I assign a category (‘French’) to the pages written in French ? I know I can do it with posts but I did not find the option for pages (?!)
2. If a visitor enters a French written page I want the French menu only to be visible (not the English). Of course I will create a link for the English version on each French page. Again, can I make sure that once an English page is visited the visitor gets then the English menu to navigate ?
Is this possible or do I have to create 2 blogs? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Here are a couple of different ways to setup a multilingual blog:

Thanks, there is an option (option2) for multlilingual in only one blog/website.. but how can I assign a category (‘French’) to the pages written in French ? Assigning a category to posts is easy but I do not know how to do it with pages (?!)

Hi,
You need to create a language-specific menu to group your pages.
Create a new custom menu for each language.
Add the pages for each language into the custom menu.
Add a category page for the blog posts in that language.
Add a custom menu widget to your sidebar, and adjust the widget visibility so it only appears on posts and pages in that language. You can see the complete instructions here under “Create a language-specific menu”:

Hi, thanks I have already read these instructions. It is fine when you have posts. Assigning a category to posts is straightforward but how do you do it with pages (?!)
Anybody helps please… -
Hi,
You can’t categorize pages like you do with posts but you can make a page a parent of another page.
Open your page in the editor, on the right sidebar, you should see Publish box, then under that the Page Attributes. Change the Parent to whatever page you want the page to be under.
So, you can either do this or you can do the language-specific menu to “categorize” your pages.
