two new widgets – Vod Pod Videos and Platial Mapkit
-
tried it with Firefox… when I click on view all… it really does nothing except center the map. if I click on my personal entry, it shows mine. if I click on add entry it works fine.
just an FYI…

I have played around with this widget as well and I find it great, just wish the navigation was a little more clear as I had some trouble with it in the beginning!

Just a quick thanks to Tracy for helping out here by the way. I’m very impressed with teh support you’re offering. :)

I just realized that this widget looks way different in Safari than in Firefox. Would it be safe to assume that maybe this is another issue that Safari is having?

Thanks for that Judyb12. I did some research on this and just found that I have failed to update Safari on my desktop and ‘lots’ of things look better now! Cheers for that.

It was fun testing with you today, Judy. Thanks again.
Thanks to everyone for reporting problems and successes. I’m putting in a copule hours tomorrow testing wordpress–different themes, etc. I’ll report what I’ve found. I’ve passed all the feedback on to the team and it’s been a big help. We just launched another update this afternoon which incorporated a lot of the suggestions we’ve gotten, so the wordpress users who come after you will benefit.

I’ve had the same problem as velvethammer.
I added the widget to my sidebar, configured, registered with platial, copied the code, saved and then updated my sidebars, but nothing has appeared on my blog.
There’s a line break there, underneath my del.icio.us link, but no content.
Am I missing a vital step?
I use the Cutline theme. I run XP Home and Firefox 2.0.0.1

Oldham–I just looked at the source code of your blog and I cannot see anything wrong. When you go back into the configuration button of the Mapkit widget, what does it say? If you can copy and paste that for me here or in an email to (email visible only to moderators and staff), that will be very helpful. I’m not sure if it is a problem on our side or on the side of WordPress. It definitely looks like you did everything right.

Velvethammer– I was able to reproduce the bug you reported. I put the map under the flickr widget in Garland and out widget reset the flickr widget configuration. haven’t yet seen this issue on other templates.
Good news is that I was able to put it in the *other* side bar with no ill effects.

Lunken–Your problem is also template-related. I haven’t found a work-around yet.

I just figured out that, for some reason, in the Garland theme, the MapKit will only display if it is the *only* widget in the side bar. Interesting… on to new themes!
-
It shows up on my site, but the View All Places link does nothing. I’ve tried it on a Mac (10.3.9) using Camino, and on WinXP using FFox–latest version of both browsers. I notice it *really* slows down the Mac browser, FWIW.
Edited to add: I think it’s a very cool widget and I thank you for making it available to us–didn’t want to come across as though I were spitefully whingeing without being grateful!
-
Oldham–It looks like the MapKit widget works in Cutline if you put it at the top of the column, but not in between other widgets. Gotta figure out what’s going on with that.
-
Defrostindoors–the show all button probably doesn’t do anything because there aren’t any places to show yet, or they’re already all showing.
That bug is logged: hide the show all button if there’s nothing more to show.

The VodPod is sweet, but shouldn’t there be somewhere I can put the option code to difine what category it displays?
