Two previous commenters going into moderation, but not on the mod list.

    I don’t normally use a VPN.

    I just posted a comment from a United States IP address while I am logged into WordPress and it did not go into moderation.

    I also did a followup post from my normal IP address, and that one also did not go into moderation

    I wanted to do another experiment when I did the same thing while not logged into WordPress, which is how I have always posted before. However, WordPress forces me to login to my account when I try to do this. This surprised me a bit, because it was never like this before.

    We’ve required a login if you have an account for some time now. It prevents folks from impersonating you.

    I can tell you for sure that until a few days ago during this debug process with Dalrock, I was able to post (but get moderated) without logging into WordPress.

    Now I agree that I have to login to post. But it wasn’t like that when Dalrock originally started this discussion a couple of weeks ago.

    It looks like I can post on Dalrock’s blog without problems. It’s possible that some debug is still needed with the other users that had problems.

    I’ve had similar problems on heartiste.wordpress.com. I’ll see if it goes away if I get one approved comment.

    Also: when was the last time you logged in before this? Maybe that has something to do with it?

    Okay, I seem to be able post on that other blog now without going to moderation. So I think that at least for me personally, the problem is solved. Obviously, I can’t speak for Dalrock’s other users who had problems.

    To answer your question about logging in, I don’t know. For sure it’s on the scale of years. I don’t even really recall signing up for a WordPress account, but I apparently did at some point. I had to do a password reset to get access during this debug effort.

    Thanks. I suspect we didn’t require a login because you hadn’t logged in for so long, but also that it could have been causing issues with your commenting.

    If your stuff is getting stuck in moderation again on sites where you know the owner approves your comments, let us know.

    @dalrock, I confirmed the other user you mentioned also has an account with us. I would imagine that logging in would help.
