Two Questions: Linky Parties and Pinterest
-
Good Afternoon,
I was wondering how to get a Pinterest plugin on my WP account for images? Is this not possible if not using a WP.org account?
Also I was wondering if doing a “Linky Party” is not possible on WP.com.
Thank you for your assistance,

There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we bloggers cannot install any plugins.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/ftp-access/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/There is no upgrade you can purchase that changes anything at all stated here http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/ FTP access, and plugins are available only for VIP bloggers http://vip.wordpress.com/our-services/ or for those with WordPress.ORG installs.
Please read > http://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/There are no link drop widgets such as “linky” ones for creating backlink schemes that we can use on free hosted WordPress.com blogs.
Our blogs are all on the same mutiuser blogging platform. They are not free standing and all JavaScript and iframe codes are stripped out by the software for security and stability reasons. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
Hence no linky parties and no pinterest widget.

I’ve seen blogs suspended for doing that, as it’s a pure SEO-manipulating device, but it’s a staff call. I’ll flag this for a ruling.
You have a Pinterest button on your Dashboard Settings->Sharing page that can be used on any page, post, or even attachment pages.

You can capture an image of a Pinterest icon and upload it, link to it and display it in a text widget. I have done this in the text widget at the top of my sidebar for those who want to follow me on Pinterest.
For creating links in a text widget see:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/text-widget-links/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/
NOTE http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/#adding-an-imageYou can upload image files by clicking the Add Media button right above the editing area of a page or a post. http://en.support.wordpress.com/add-media/
You can also upload new files to your Media Library using Media → Add New. http://support.wordpress.com/media/media-add-new

For troubleshooting see http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/troubleshooting-images/You enable sharing buttons including a Pinterest one to display at the bottom of your posts pages and even attachment pages. http://en.support.wordpress.com/sharing/

All the link party plugins and widgets I researched are distasteful drop your link here SEO backlink schemes conducted via are JavaScript widgets. They appear to be popular with bloggers who are into award memes and who do not write well enough to attract natural backlinks to their posts. I sincerely hope Google slaughters the page rank on every blog they are posted on. -
Thanks for the help, both of you. I already have the Pinterest dashboard setting in place, but was looking for the “hover” image. It seems an upgrade might be in order.
As for the “linky” party. It looked more like fun than anything, but I appreciate both your insight into the matter.
Sincerely!

There is no upgrade that allows for the use of any JavaScript widget here at WordPress.com. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#javascript
The linky parties are an SEO scam through a deceptive linking practice. If Google doesn’t hammer the blogs of who play SEO games like linky parties then they will be the next target for me to complain to Google about day in and day out until they act on it.

Hi there, I am not very familiar with Linky Party. However, if it relies on Javascript then it cannot be used here at WordPress.com, as timethief mentioned.
When adding links on your blog, please be sure they comply with our terms of service. You can read more about the types of blogs allowed at WordPress.com here: http://en.wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/
