two sites?
-
I deleted my poemnw.wordpress.com site which was created by mistake. All I have now is pittore44.wordpress.com listed under ‘My sites’ when I log into wordpress.
I can no update https://poempnw.wordpress.com, which is a site I crearted and shared with a now defunct committee. The site admin has quit andno longer has access passwords. I see that I have posted to that site using grandepittore as my user name. However, whenever I try to use the pencil icon with the + sign to modify the site, it wants to update the pittore44.wordpress.com site. How can I get the https://poempnw.wordpress.com listed again as one of my sites???The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Note: the posting automatically puts
“The blog I need help with is pittore44.wordpress.com.” as the last sentence, when actually, the site I need help with is:
https://poempnw.wordpress.com -
Hi @pittore44, thankfully the site was not deleted. However, your account does not have access to it. Can you log out, then log in again using your other username?
-
I have tried that but do not know the password and any attempt on my part to retrieve the password just asks me to change the password for (email visible only to moderators and staff), my current username.
-
We’ll try emailing the account on file. Please check all addresses, including any you would have used when you set up this account.
-
The former site admin emailed me that he received email at (email visible only to moderators and staff) and he sent me the password, so now I am able to use the gmail account for the site. He reports he cannot enter the site to tweet admin settings. Is there anyway to gain access or do I just need to recreate the site using cut and paste?

@pittore44 ah I’m glad he wrote you back. Twitter settings are under https://wordpress.com/sharing — you can disconnect and reconnect there if needed.
You can also update the address at https://wordpress.com/me/account — just note you can’t use the email address associated with @pittore44 .
-
I am not sure what you mean by “update the address”…and how to do that? I need for poempnw.wordpress.com to be listed under my email address (email visible only to moderators and staff) under “My Sites” so I can access and edit those pages. Robert Long (the original creator of that account) is no longer in the group and no longer wants to have anything to do with the site. Can’t you just transfer ownership of that site from […] he has no objections: […]
-
If he has no objections, have him reply directly to our email authorizing the switch. We can take care of it from there :)
-
I am sure Dr. Long will not have any objections other than to be a bother to him as he is a busy professor with other concerns than this almost defunct committee.
Be that as it may, if you would be so kind to resend that email authorising the switch, as I have yet to have seen that email. Hopefully, I overlooked it or it was only sent to Dr. Long.
Cheers,
Jerry Ross

If he can’t be bothered, you can change the email address instead.
I am not sure what you mean by “update the address”…and how to do that?
While logged in as Dr. Long, go to https://wordpress.com/me/account . Change the address listed there to one you have access to, and update the other settings as well.
-
Or, while logged in as him, use these steps to change ownership:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/transferring-a-site-to-another-wordpress-com-account/And again, the other option is to just have him respond to our email authorizing the switch.
-
apparently he has logged in himself at that link you sent but still cannot see the account…so if I could log in as him, it wouldn’t help. Here is what Dr. Long wrote me this morning.
[redacted; these are private forums; he needs to respond directly to us rather than relaying through you.]
-
The email needs to come directly to us, otherwise (no offense) you could just be making it up. We have to be careful about such things.
I’ll reach out via email again.

Since Dr. Long emailed you directly, what remains to be done…do I now have access to the site? — Jerry Ross

The one on his account. We can’t give it out. You mentioned he received an email from us, however he did not respond. Please ask him to check that same address.
