Two sites, one which I don’t need.
-
I’m a professional santa. I am just doing a blog to answer kids’ questions and post photos from home visits. I discovered that somehow I ended up with two sites when I tried to find my site on the internet like my viewer would do (still don’t know how they are supposed to do it.) One of the sites is like a store with a cart and check out and all, which I don’t need. I’m guessing that it is the Blue Host. Do I need them or that site? If not, how do I get rid of it? Also, is there a way to change the domain name (I guess that’s what it is) that’s with the WordPress site? Also it keeps showing up that I owe $18 for something I supposedly have in a cart. I’m not aware of anything, unless I inadvertently purchased something. I thought I had already paid for everything with my initial payment. What is it I supposedly purchased and what do I do about it if I don’t want it.

Hi there,
Of what site are you speaking? I see one WordPress.com site in your account, https://santaanswerskidsquestions.wordpress.com/, and one WordPress site hosted at another provider, that’s just connected to this account via the Jetpack plugin, http://santa-answerskidsquestions.com/
when I tried to find my site on the internet like my viewer would do (still don’t know how they are supposed to do it.)
The account you’re using to post here, and the WordPress.com site, are only a week and a half old. That site is public, so anyone who knows the address can find it. But it will take several weeks for search engines to index that site before it will start appearing in online searches.
This project happens automatically, and you can speed it up a bit by regularly posting new content to your site, but it will take a while.
One of the sites is like a store with a cart and check out and all, which I don’t need. I’m guessing that it is the Blue Host. Do I need them or that site? If not, how do I get rid of it?
So that would be http://santa-answerskidsquestions.com/.
You can remove that site from your WordPress.com account by going to My Sites ->Switch Site and selecting it, then go to Manage ->Settings. At the bottom you’ll see the option to disconnect Jetpack.
But if you don’t want that site at all, you’ll need to contact Bluehost support to cancel the hosting plan you bought from them and take the site offline – Jetpack allows you to manage certain aspects of that site through a WordPress.com account, but we have no direct control over that site.
Also, is there a way to change the domain name (I guess that’s what it is) that’s with the WordPress site?
For the WordPress.com site, you can change the free address as explained at https://en.support.wordpress.com/changing-site-address/, or you can replace it with a custom domain on any of our paid plans.
For the Bluehost site, you’ll need to contact their support to find out how to replace the current domain with a different one.
Also it keeps showing up that I owe $18 for something I supposedly have in a cart. I’m not aware of anything, unless I inadvertently purchased something.
You haven’t bought anything from us. You did pay Bluehost for a hosting plan for the site you set up on their end.
You’re seeing that message on our end because at some point you must have searched for and selected a custom domain, but you never completed that purchase. Click on that notice and delete the domain from the cart, and the notice will go away.
Please let me know if you have any more questions about this.
