Two Small Questions About Domains

Hello: I’ve been thinking for a few months that I’d like to pay to have my domain changed to http://scarletsculturegarden.com but I just have two issues with this – I’ve read the support page on paying for unique domain names, but wondered if everything about the blog would be exactly the same apart from the name (i.e. creating posts, pages, managing stats and other things on the dashboard are unchanged despite the domain name change).

Secondly (and this might be a daft question that’s really obvious!) what happens if you pay the extra $8 for a private domain? I don’t get what this means. A little explanation would be helpful!
    Thanks so much!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I thought I just answered this – I hope this is not a duplicate post

If you register and map a domain name to your site nothing much changes except the URL that you can enter to get to your site – same theme, look, feel etc. You also have the same Terms of Service on what you can and can’t do. the old URL will also still work so your regular visitors can still find you.

“Private domain” – when you register your name your contact information is hidden so if someone does a whois on the domain your name does not show up – a bit more privacy –

Hi: sorry it wasn’t a duplicate post I didn’t see the one you apparently replied to, but sorry for bothering you anyway. Thanks for the help!

I had thought that I had answered your question already in this same thread and I was concerned about having two identical answers next to each other – you ask only once – on occasions the Forum software will allow a poster to inadvertently have the same answer appear twice –

You be welcome and good luck!
