Two step authentication disabled but still stopping me.

  I tried the two step authentication, and it stymied me every time I tried to, for instance, ‘get apps’. I disabled it, but when I again tried ‘get apps’ it hit me with the ‘verification SMS’ and then won’t allow me to click the send key.

  Hi @subodai213, it sounds like you’re hoping to use SMS rather than one of the apps like DUO or Google Vault. Is that correct?

  Also can you clarify where you’re at with this currently? I see codes were sent but 2FA is off right now. You’ll also want to set (and verify) a recovery email and phone number.

  Hello, Jerry,

  Thank you for your response. I am not computer savvy at all, so it took me quite some time to figure it out. Windows updates have a nasty habit of surreptitiously changing settings, this latest update being no exception. It had gone into Gmail and turned on “notifications”. I shut it off and it hasn’t done it again.

  WP offered me the option of using SMS, and I took it because I have no idea what DUO or Google Vault are.

  WHY I got 13 of the very same comment notification from that particular blog, I have absolutely no idea..but it hasn’t done it again, so I’m good.
