Two-step authentication NOT sending SMS code

    This is really frustrating!!! I’ve used this service and have had no problem logging in for YEARS…. But as of today, I’m not receiving the SMS codes for the two-step authentications. I’ve restarted my phone 3 times. I’ve tried using backup codes, got in, turned OFF two-step and do you know what it wants to do? Send an SMS to confirm! If I can’t get the SMS, I can’t confirm the stupid changes. I’ve changed my password. Checked that I can receive SMS from friends and family. Turned it off with a backup code and I still can’t get this stuff to work. What the heck??

    Hi there:

    I’m showing that your WordPress.com user account kjstroll has Two-Step Authentication disabled at present, so you should be all set for now if you want it disabled.

    If you do want to keep using it but you find SMS to be unreliable with getting your Two Step codes, I’d recommend using an authenticator app – I recommend Authy – that way your app will generate the codes and not needing to wait for a text that may or may not arrive in your case.

    I recommend Authy over Google Authenticator because Authy is tied to your phone number, not your phone, so if you ever lose your phone or get a new one, your authenticator app isn’t lost with it.
