Two-step authentification: dialog says CORRECT phone number is wrong

  I’m trying to turn on 2-step authentification on my blog. A WordPress.com modal dialog pops up every and refuses to let me enter a 7-digit phone number, even though the number is correct (as is the format, for my country, Fiji).

  How can I fix this?
