Two Steps Authentication problem

  • Unknown's avatar

I’ve setup two steps authentication awhile back and i don’t have the code anymore and every time I want to log in to my WordPress blog it asks me to enter the code! However I click on send via sms each and every time i want to log in.
I tried to disable the two steps authentication but it always says invalid code! I am not quite sure what to do next? how can I stop it even if I don’t have the code?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

When you get the SMS code, it is good for one use only. Since you use it to get to the user settings page, it’s not possible to use it a second time to turn off Two Step Auth.

To do that, you will need to request another backup code so you can log in to your account. Once on the Security Settings page, click on the “Generate Backup Codes” button and print a backup copy of your codes.

Next click on the “Disable” button under Two Step Authentication status.

At the prompt, enter a code from your list of backup codes YOU JUST PRINTED and click “Disable” button.

You should see now that Two Step Authorization is disabled on your user account.

Hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
