Two Subscriber Lists?

  • Unknown's avatar

I recently made the jump to go from WordPress.com to WordPress.org.

I followed a tutorial for migrating my subscribers over and that seems to have worked. I even made sure to create a redirect link to anyone who ends up on the WordPress.com site will be immediately sent to the self hosting site.

My problem is, I’m getting subscribers still on my original wordpress.com blog, completely separate from the self-hosting site I’ve created! Is there a way to merge these?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

I’m assuming you followed these directions:

I have tagged staff to help you out further.

    Regards

Yes, I did, and I migrated my subscribers list and have done all the jetpack requirements listed. My problem is that the wordpress.com site is now getting new subscribers completely separate from my self hosted site. I don’t know how to combine them so that new people subscribe to the self hosted site.

  • Hi @kristenexperiments, it just means they’re still finding your old site through the reader.

You could make posts on the old site private so that no new followers cannot find them anymore.

But, new followers aren’t always a bad thing. Honestly I’d just migrate new followers periodically — maybe once every 5-10 followers, or every time you’re about to publish a new post, or once a month. Whatever works best for you.
