Two text columns in main text body

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello,

is it possible to present text in the main text body of my site in two columns instead of only using one colum? One column for the first paragraph and two columns for the last part of the page?

My idea is to have a left column with text and pics and a second column with only text in it, the two columns presenting parallel developments.

Thanks a lot in advance!! Best wishes,
    Ansgar

  • Hi again.

You could use custom css to set two columns for your paragraphs except the first in each article. This will perform a general customization for each of your posts and it will split into two parts your content, first half to the left and second half to the right. So those two columns will behave like communicating vessels and if you add content to your paragraph it will result on a different content split and a displacement that could affect both sides.

This will make hard to control which portion of your content is on each column. So it would be ok when you have something like a newspaper, but not so great if you want to have independent columns as I understood from your question.

So you would probably like to define for each post what you have in one column and in the other. And this should be particularized for each post, using the editor. How can that be done? Fortunately there is a very clear help page : https://vip.wordpress.com/documentation/how-to-create-columns-in-posts/ with several options.

I hope this helps you! We will remain here if you have further questions you’d like to ask :)

    P. S.: If I wanted to shrink the width of my whole right sidebar, what would the code be?
