Two wordpress blogs and transfer options
-
I have two issues.
1. I started a second blog under my account. However, I can’t seem to get to it. It doesn’t show up in the login page and when I use the dashboard to choose it instead of the original one, it diverts me to the original one.
2. The reason I started it is that the first blog has a name that someone else is using. Out of respect for the band that uses that name and a desire not to confuse googlers, I wanted to move but only so the blog would have a different name. If there is just a way to rename the blog and change the url I would do it though that would leave me unable to direct people to the new name.
So, I’d like to be able to get to my second one and import the first. The instructions say to use export only if going to another blog service, but don’t say what to do if you want to transfer to another wordpress blog. IN any event, I exported the first and have the file but I can’t get to the second. If I can ever get there, will import work or will it mess things up. There are only about 5 posts, though they are long and have many links and some graphics. I had not really done anything with widgets or even categories yet so it shouldn’t be too hard, I hope.
Thanks for any help.

1) Is the second blog assigned to the same email address as the first one? If so, you should be able to. Best bet would be to submit a Feedback with specifics from your dashboard.
2) You can use the exporter to move your posts over to the second blog. If there are pictures, please don’t delete your first blog as that would also delete the pictures.
Hope this helps,

Hi! I wanted to export my WordPress blog to another WordPress blog, but it didn’t work.
I followed the FAQ, downloaded the export XML-file. Then I went to my new WordPress blog here
http://pro.murman2.ru/blog/interpreter/
I went to import, followed the instructions. But there was an error.
Unable to create directory /usr/home/murman2/www/sites/pro.murman2.ru/blog/wp-content/blogs.dir/4/files. Is its parent directory writable by the server? Why is that? is it the host-site problem?
Thank you! -

Not a problem. :)
Just in case anyone is scratching their head on that, the directory that she copied is a WPMU setup and she wouldn’t have access to the files directly. Normally I would have stated how to make the adjustment herself but, like WP.com, we don’t have access to the files.
Hope this helps,
