Two WP sites, would like separate admin for each, can't work it out

Hi. I have two blogs, both of which I will be running by myself. I would like each to be associated with a different email address and admin name, but I can’t see how to do this. I tried changing the admin of one, but it also changed the admin of the other. I tried adding my other email address as admin, but when I follow the link in the invitation email, WP won’t let me in.

What’s the best way to set this up? Both blogs are well underway and have several pages/posts. Starting again is not an option.

Did you try signing up for a second WordPress.com account with your alternate email? Once you have a separate account set up you can invite that account to be an admin on one of the sites.

Here are the instructions to invite new users to your site: https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#adding-users-to-your-site

Regardless of the number of blogs registered under the same username account, email address and gravatar, Your username can be linked to a single primary blog only.

To disassociate blogs currently registered under the same username accounts you must log out, clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies, and without logging in, register another username account under a different email address. Then you can transfer the blog to it.

Hmm, do you know how to add an account without having to start a blog first?

That is, when I want to open a new account with my other email address, WP asks me to select a blog etc. I don’t need to, can I bypass that?

One is not required to register a blog as there is a username account only that can be used.

You would have to log out and clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies and select the “username only” option here: https://signup.wordpress.com/signup/?user=1

That seems to work, thank you :)

Interesting that I could not see any option for ‘username only’ in the WP menus, and it was only after clearing all browser cache that your link would work properly. This process was much more obscure and time-consuming than it should have been.

I’m sorry you had such a hard time. Best wishes with your site.
