However, I can’t follow the instructions. It sayd to hover over “Appearance” and click on editor. I can’t find editor when I do it. Any suggestions?

Would I be better off with WordPress.org, and if so, is the switch seamless or would Ineed to start all over again?

No, it won’t help you. Moving won’t really help you either; it’s trivial to get around that kind of protection. But it’s not terribly difficult to move, the instructions are in http://support.wordpresscom if you decide to move anyway.

Thanks guys or gals. Could you be more specific where I look for info? I typed in “conversion from wordpress.com to wordpress.org” in the forum and came up with nothing.

Can you install the Wrodpress Copyscape plug-in on WordPress.com blogs, or do you need WordPress.org for this too?

@elebowitz
There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.com blogs and we cannot install individual plugins into them. Those found on the internet are only for WordPress.org installs. There is nothing you can install into a free hosted WordPress.com blog that will achieve what you want.Please read this entire entry > WordPress.com vs WordPress.org
If you decide to move to hiring a web host and setting up a WordPress.org install then read this step by step process > Setting up a self-hosted WordPress.org install
