Type of editor has changed – can’t insert media any more

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

I tried to test the new editor, but when I did, I could no longer insert media where I wanted to (it does not insert where the cursor is), and columns have gone funny. How do I get back to the old version I was using? I clicked back on ‘classic’, but it went to html text coding – and I just want the old editor back that I was using. Please can you help to reset it for me?

I haven’t tried it yet, but according to this — https://en.support.wordpress.com/wordpress-editor/ (see the section “Will I still be able to use the old editor?”) — you should be able to switch back the Classic Editor.

Give that a try and let us know how it turns out.

    Best of luck,

    Kendall

  • Hi Anna,

You can indeed switch back to the classic editor as Kendall said above.

However, we are also collecting feedback on stuff that’s not working so we can fix them, so it would be great if you can share more details on exactly what you’re trying to do.

If you want to add an image and have the text wrap around it, add your text in the paragraph block. Then add an image block above it. Insert your image, resize it to the size you want, and then left- or right-align the image. That should cause the text below it to shift up and fill the space next to the image.

Can you explain what you mean by the columns going funny? The editor has a Columns block you can use if you want some of your content to be arranged in columns – no more need to manually create columns in the HTML view.

Also note there’s a Classic Editor block where you can add content as in the Classic Editor if needed.
