Typekit & Pilcrow static pages/posts

I just started a blog at http://voltagecontrolled.wordpress.com and while the typekit fonts seem to be working perfectly on the main page, the about page and all post pages seem to be missing the typekit font I had chosen for the title. Is this a bug in pilcrow or typekit? I figured that as pilcrow is an update, choosing pressrow on typekit should easily just work for the updated theme.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • You probably have too specific of a selector for the title. Try with #site-title instead of h1#site-title. On inner pages that HTML element changes from an h1 to a div.

Let me be a bit more clear. I do not have CSS access to the site at the moment. I’m using pilcrow in it’s default state. I have selected pressrow (pilcrow is not an option) as my theme at typekit (free account). If what you are suggesting is the case then as far as I understand it typekit needs to update their side of things to be automatically compatible with pilcrow? Shouldn’t this have been figured out between wordpress and typekit before the pilcrow update?

  • OK, I see. Sorry about the confusion. You are right, we should ask Typekit to remove PressRow from that list and replace it with Pilcrow.

In the meantime you should have full control over the CSS selectors in your Typekit settings if you do not choose a specific WordPress theme from the list there. But that does require a bit more work to add the CSS selectors. :)

If you want to do it manually you can choose “None” in Typekit for the WordPress theme.

    I see,
I was confused about the selectors in typekit before, but it’s all falling into place now. I figured if I had chosen a theme it should do everything automagically. I’ve got some additional selectors added now that make it more compatible.

    Thanks for your help!!

  • You’re welcome. (And I’ve contacted Typekit with the information on the updates to Pilcrow.)

Indeed I am having the same problems and I am useless with CSS at this point as I haven’t the time to learn it or read it. I am a busy dad and work at night. My website is http://www.higherlatitude.wordpress.com. I am doing everything for free at the moment, and I like pilcrow but the free fonts from typekit are behaving erratically and not showing up where I chose them to.

Understand where you are coming from Sarin.

    Cheers Lance.

Hahaha, even my gravatar isn’t showing up. I guess I did that wrong too.

  • @teirersias Can you test your site again with now? Typekit has updated the default selectors for Coraline and Pilcrow, so things should work much better now.

I tried Pilcrow and a number of others that should work with TypeKit, without CSS upgrade. The guide on Typekit must be out of date..I cannot choose where I want to apply my fonts. Anyway, I can’t get any font changes to appear at all, even though I have put in the correct code, and published from the Kit editor. Got any pointers anywhere? I would like to be able to use Pilcrow.
