typo in email address, cannot gain access to account

  I am attempting to register a blog for someone, and I made a simple mistake on the registry application. I set up the account to be registered under (email visible only to moderators and staff) with the user name derrickomartin. Its web address was http://www.derrickomartin.wordpress.com. I mistakenly registered the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff)(an extra L in gmail) because of this, I can’t get into the account to change the mistake, and cannot use the URL and user name I hade planned to. How can I gain access to this account?

  Hi there,

  Because the account was never truly created (the validation email which was sent to the email address you entered was never acted upon), there is nothing which we can do on this end to correct the email address on file.

  That said, if you go and search for the username or blog name “derrickomartin”, you’ll see that our system tells you that it may become available to you soon. Once the time limit runs out on that validation email, the user and blog name should become available again.

  Of course you can always select another one of each as well in the mean time!
