Hello. I am unable to solve a problem with the type of quotation marks that appear in my published content. Sometimes they are ” and sometimes «», even varying in the same block. Following previous advice I have tried typing straight in, as well as copying from other pages on my site, and switching the theme, but there seems to be an underlying problem or some sort of memory. Curiously, in the text titled ‘the girl, the dress and her misfortune’ on page ‘giles’s fables’, I wrote in just the beginning up to the first quotation marks, to see what would happen, and the text is now stuck with a variation at this point, even if I cut and paste the whole thing back in, so that these first marks are «» and the rest are ”. It would be very useful if you could help out with this. Thank you.

Hi there!
Could you please share the link to the specific posts or pages on your site with a short description as to where it’s showing up as you want and where it’s not showing up properly? This will help us understand the issue better and advise accordingly.
Thanks!

Hello, I missed that reply, sorry.
The problem with quotation marks is on a page called “giles’s fables”.
In some blocks on this page quotation marks are displayed as «» and in others as “”. On other pages they all appear as «». I would prefer “” but my problem is really that the type varies. If they were all «» or all “” it would matter less.
Thank you for your help and prompt reply!

Hi there,
As mentioned in your other thread, some odd behaviors can be found when pasting from other text editing applications such as Microsoft Word. This is due to the fact that Word is not intended to be an online editing tool, so on their end the use invisible (to you) formatting that can muck things up a bit when pasted into an HTML-based text editor such as the one we use here.
This is not something we’re able to fix on our end, but you can try to past as plain text without any formatting, which will usually remove the invisible formatting from the source document:
Steps are here: https://wordpress.com/support/microsoft-word/#plain-text
If you have formatting in your Word Doc that is important to preserve you can also consider Microsoft OneDrive Word Web App embeds, which will allow you to embed the doc directly into your pages and blog posts: https://wordpress.com/support/word-web-app/
Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
