ubud theme home page post limit

Hi, I can’t seem to get the home page to limit to a specific number (say 6,9,12 etc). I’ve read the response from the theme creator directing one user to settings/reading/blog posts to show. Does not seem to have any effect no matter what number I enter here. My site either displays 7 posts (an ugly number for a 3 column format), or all posts. I’ve cleared out cookies and cache. Getting nowhere. Going round in circles now. Thanks for your help:)

To control this, you’ll want to edit two settings on this page:
https://katemckennaphoto.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-reading.php?settings-updated=true
The first is “Blog pages show at most.” This is how many posts you want to be displayed.
The second is “To infinity and beyond.” This is the infinite scroll option that continuously loads your posts as you scroll down the page. You’ll want this unchecked.
Once you’ve unchecked infinite scroll, the “Blog pages show at most” should take effect!
