Ugly border suddenly around gravatar!
-
I can’t get rid of this green border that has suddenly appeared around my gravatar in the past couple of days.
It was never there before. I’ve tried reloading – to no avail.
How can I rid myself of it.
You can see it at http://mamalewis.wordpress.com.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just as an aside…
You can see it does not surround my photo above, but does appear on the site.
-
I checked your site and I don’t see a green boarder around your gravatar I recommend clearing your cookies and cache then restart your browser here is the FAQ about Browser issues http://support.wordpress.com/browser-issues

FWIW-I see it in FF 3.5.3.
Are you using the Gravatar Widget or a Text Widget?
The reason it doesn’t appear in the photo above because “above” is your header. No borders there.
-
Sorry I meant, it doesn’t appear in the photo you see on this page. It’s not in my header, it is in my sidebar.
I am using the Gravatar Widget.
I have restarted my browser. Hasn’t worked.
Incidentally, it doesn’t seem to appear on Safari though. Just Firefox and IE. Weirdness.

I beg to differ. It is there using FF and IE. In the HTML for the text widget try setting border=0, i.e.
<img src="URL-of-image" ... border="0" ...> -
hmm that’s weird I don’t see it with Google chrome 3.0.195.27
But I do see it with FF 3.5.3 I recommend changing to a different theme becausethat boarder looks like it’s part of the theme design
-
Where do I insert the code in the Gravatar Widget – or do I have to use the Text widget?
As far as the theme, I never noticed this until two days ago… very odd. I may have to change the theme.
-
Unfortunately, we can’t control how things are displayed in the Gravatar widget and it may not be theme dependent (try previewing your blog in other themes).
But as husdal pointed out, you can get the same kind of thing by using a Text widget and setting the image border to “0”.
-
Just out of curiosity, do you have the CSS upgrade? I just added the Gravatar Widget in my test blog and there’s no border in my widget using Misty Look.
If not, maybe try removing the Gravatar Widget and then re-adding it (remember to copy out your text first so you don’t lose it, or drag it out to the bottom portion of the widget page in your dashboard so that it saves your content.)
-
I figured it out. I took out the hyperlink attached to the avatar.
Strange that the border appeared six weeks after I started the blog. I’m willing to delete the link to salvage the look of the blog.

Some browsers, IE and FF in particular, by default will show a border around linked images unless you specifically set “border:none;” either in the CSS, or in the image link code. With the Gravatar widget, we cannot specify “border:none;” so as long as the image is linked, the border will be there in FF and IE.
