UK access problems?
-
For about 24 hours now, I have had problems accessing my blog. On the rare occasion I have been able to access the dashboard it takes about five minutes to load up, everything is slow and freezes regularly. I have used my wife’s laptop and a desktop and still get the same problem.
This appears to happen most evenings at the moment (GMT) but access problems are normally only for about an hour. Last night I couldn’t access it for seven hours and I am struggling tonight too.
Are the problems with the UK servers? I’ve checked the server status page and all seems normal. There never seems to be any notification of scheduled downtime either.

I must also add that my wife also has a blog and is experiencing the same problem.
I have no issues accessing other websites.

I have had the same problems in the evenings (GMT). I thought it was my internet connection but other websites were loading. Not sure what the problem is

No response from admin or support on this?
This is the third evening I’ve had the same problem. Connection on my android phone has also been sporadic at best.

Hello there,
I have flagged this thread for Staff attention. These are the troubleshooting steps we take whenever any issues like this arise:
clearing your browser cache and cookies > http://www.google.com/support/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=32050
using the browser with all extensions or add-ons disabled
updating the browser to the latest stable version (not a buggy BETA browser version) http://browsehappy.com/
confirming third party cookies is enabled http://support.google.com/accounts/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=61416
confirming JavaScript is enabled http://www.google.com/adsense/support/bin/answer.py?answer=12654
confirming Flash is updated http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/ and if required installing the latest version of Flash http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/
resetting your router and modem and rebooting your computer
then logging in using the secure https:// log-in see http://en.support.wordpress.com/https/
trying another browserIf those do not work for you then Staff will need to know
(1) How you are connecting to the internet and to WordPress.com. The way you connect to the internet (mobile, satellite, DSL, dial-up) and to your blog, and how many proxy server jumps etc. it takes to connect can cause problems. There maybe be problems with your ISP and/or with the proxy servers. Also note that the main dashboard isn’t designed to work with touch devices through the tablet and smartphone browsers.(2) Exactly which browser and version of it are you using. If you don’t know click here to find out > http://whatsmyuseragent.com/

Hi,
I am having exactly the same problems and have tried on an iPad and a PC running Firefox and Safari. Live in the UK as well. Cannot access my blog or any other WordPress blogs and even this forum is really slow.
-
Hello again,
Are you using AdBlock? https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpress-malfunctioning-need-help/page/2?replies=60#post-910550 -
For the iphone wordpress app, you need to inquire over at http://iphone.forums.wordpress.org/
If it is the app written by wordpress you need to inquire over at http://android.forums.wordpress.org/
ipad > http://ios.forums.wordpress.org/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting -
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I am not using any AdBlock software and when I am talking about the iPad, I do not mean the app but when I try and view any blog on Safari.
-
I don’t run adblock and support were looking into the problem this morning but have not had any reply. This is the message I keep getting.
No data received
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.I’m also in the UK.

I’m sorry what I posted wasn’t helpful. Please me patient while waiting for Staff to respond to you in this thread.

I’ve tried all of those steps above. my browser or configuration have not changed in the last three days. I am using AdBlock on my laptop but the other two computers I have tried to log into are not. As I said, same problems on three different computers. They are new machines running up to date browsers (I use Firefox on this, I am also getting the same problem on Google Chrome – both browsers on all three computers).
This has happened most evenings for the last month or so, but only lasted about an hour.
I also pointed out that I am getting sporadic connection on my smartphone – this has also been going on for the last 3 days.
This has got to be a server/connection problem hasn’t it?
-
Same here, lots of similar threads in the forum where users say the same things.
All the above advice is well meaning but hit and miss. Some tricks, like re-booting or unplugging the router for a short while work for a round or two, but then the ‘no data received’ messages start all over again. This does not look like something that can be solved by us users.

I’ve posted on my issues here (no reply from support to date), and do not wish to seem to be cross-posting, however:
- I’m also in the UK
- My issues connecting to WordPress.com commenced in the same overall timeframe
- I am able to acess my blog’s (modemworld.wordpress.com) home page, but routinely get disconnected when accessing the admin pages (i.e. to reply to comments, etc). This happens in Firefox, Chrome, IE and Opera (although Chrome appars lightly more stable)
- My issue is no restricted to evenings, but is definitely worse during the evening than at other times
My ISP is TalkTalk. Out of curiosity, is anyone else here using the same ISP? This might narrow things down a little.
-
-
MY ISP is AOL (UK) which I believe is Talk Talk.
I have done everything you can think of. My 2 blogs work fine when am accessing them via my Work internet connection but for some reason when I use my home internet the pages do not always display.
You can imagine how frustrating this can be when you are in the middle of posting. The fact that other websites work makes me think there may be some problem with Word Press and Talk Talk ISP. Not sure but there must be some type of system error.
Are there people with this problem who have a different internet service provider that is not Talk Talk or AOL?
-
-
My ISP is also Talk Talk and I have been having the same problems for 4 days. Really frustrating – particularly while writing / editing! Really hope this is resolved soon.
