Un-clickable images

    How do I re-instate the ability to click on a post image and have it open as a larger image, since the upgrade this is no longer a feature, also image editing tools seem to have disappeared.

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

    When responding to a topic including the same issue a couple of days ago, I was amazed to discover that there appears to be no access to image details anymore in the new editor, except for the caption. What’s missing that is still present in the classic editor? Access to the following:

    1. Display Settings: Alignment, size, and “link to” settings
    2. Alternative text box
    3. Advanced Settings: including Image Title Attribute, Image CSS Class, Image Border (width and color), Image Margins, and “Link Rel,” and “Link CSS Class”
    4. Edit Original button, which opens the Edit Image page
    5. Replace button, which opens the Replace Image page

    @ exelyses

    This seems like an enormous defect in the new editor, and I’d be astounded if hundreds of users haven’t already complained about it. There might be other topics covering the apparent absence of image editing tools from the new editor, but I haven’t yet found them.

    I’ve added a “modlook” tag to the sidebar to call for staff attention.

    @exelyses:

    It’s not a defect; you can still easily link the smaller image to the full-sized image.

    If you click on the inserted image, and then click on the “link” button, you’ll notice that the prompt for a link URL is auto-populated with the URL to your full-sized image.

    As for image editing, you’ll need to do that in the advanced dashboard at the moment, under Media -> Library: http://countryparkgarden.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

    However, we’re looking to bring editing abilities to the new editor in the future.

    What useful purpose is served by torturing us wordpress.com bloggers with with the two year development of an infantile editor in iteration after iteration that lacks the features that the classic editor has? It seems to me that all including all the features the classic editor had from the get go ought to have been a no brainer. If I sound pissed that’s because I am pissed. The biggest piss-off of all is that the result of each iteration is being promoted as improving my blogging experience when the opposite has been my reality. Every unannaou7ced and unwelcome chnage has resulted in making my blogging more difficult, more time consuming and less enjoyable. That is why I stopped paying for upgrades on two active blogs and stopped blogging on a regular twice weekly basis as I did before. It’s my opinion that unless that next iteration of the new editor puts it on even ground in terms of features with the classic editor the continued exodus of formerly happy but now pissed off wordpress.com bloggers will continue.

    @ chrisrudzki,

    If you click on the inserted image, and then click on the “link” button, you’ll notice that the prompt for a link URL is auto-populated with the URL to your full-sized image.

    Thanks, for this info. However, neither I nor the OP was looking for the full-sized image URL.

    Thanks also for the update on the image editing option for those using the new editor. I’ll stick with the classic editor. It still works fine.

    @musicdoc1:

    If you read the OP, you’ll see the following question:

    How do I re-instate the ability to click on a post image and have it open as a larger image…

    I’ve addressed the OP’s actual question.

    Any distinct issues or comments require a new forum thread, rather than being posted on unrelated threads.

    Ideally, suggestions regarding the new editor should be made at the following thread, if we are to take them into account:
